Instructions
Introduction: Develop a multi-part proposal for Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria & Overseas on the why and how an issues management system might improve their anticipatory management, to frame and advance issues they will face in the future.
Directions: This assignment requires you to contact a client – Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria & Overseas. If the organization does not have an emerging issues management (IM) process, you should gear your IM proposal to justify how this might be embedded. If your client does have an IM process, you should gear your project to improve this function (THE CHURCH DOES NOT HAVE ONE). Read Ashley and Morrison’s excerpt (.pdf) on “Anticipatory Management” (1995) to grasp what an issues management process might involve. An exemplary proposal will include a process model of a strategic issues management system.
- Assess: create an issues list based on interviews and desk research. Select the top 7 emerging issues to include in a survey
2. Prioritize: Ask managers to rate your issues by filling in an Issues Rating Survey. This is a preliminary survey you will use, that is used before a SIM process is considered. For a look at a single Issue Analysis Survey (not “rating”) see Chapter 11 (.pdf) of Ashley & Morrison (1995).
3. Write a proposal with appropriate headers and visuals:
1.0 Introduction (your role, your process)
2.0 Issues Management: Why? (vs. current situation)
3.0 Processes & Procedures
3.1 Identifying Issues
3.2 Analyzing Issues
3.3 Prioritizing Issues (across 3 categories)
4.0 Identified Issues and Analysis
Issues Rating Survey Results
5.0 Recommendations (10-step process for category 1 issues)
6.0 Appendix
Sample Issue Brief (from Project 2)
Issues Rating Survey (blank copy)
Format: This proposal should contain a title page, be addressed to a strategic manager or task force in an organization, be lined-spaced at 1.5, and run from 9 to 14 pages, excluding appendices. Structure the report with headers that appear in the document’s Navigation Pane. Use Grammarly to refine your writing. Include a Grammarly Performance Report of 90 or better.
